Created as a response to a body of work by Kahyun Yun, Homes reflects on the interdependence of ideas of home and identity. Homes was a half-improvised, half-composed retelling of my own history in different homes in three movements: San Francisco, New York and Chicago (Home), and was performed twice during the month-long exhibition.
Exploiting a pre-made pitch-correction plugin in audio software, for every note played on the cello a twin note is produced, which is tuned to a G. The live cello and its digital shadow mixed together in the space, ultimately sharing equal weight.
The G remained consistently present throughout the three movements.
